About this product
The Meltable objects come from an exploration of production and material, and how we value what is made to be consumed—and discarded. In Sweden, over 20,000 tons of candles are used each year, leaving 4,000 tons of leftovers, material that could be remelted and re-shaped endlessly. Wax, though loved in use, holds no value once the flame is gone. Stina collects remnants from Malmö restaurants and by hand-dipping create new forms.

Stina Henriksson is an industrial designer based in Malmö, Sweden. Her Lost and Found project transforms discarded candle wax into permanent aluminum objects. Stina collects wax remnants from Malmö restaurants and hand-dips them into new forms using traditional candle-making techniques. Each wax form is then cast in aluminum using the lost wax method—the mold is destroyed, the metal remains. The result: unique objects that capture something ephemeral in permanent form.
